The Philadelphia Eagles play in downtown Philly, at the Lincoln Financial Field. The facility is one of the newer stadiums in the league, being built in 2003. The Eagles are the only professional team to play in this stadium. There is a seating capacity of 68,000 people.
The Eagles will have a fresh start for the 2013 season as there have been lots of changes to the coaching staff and the roster. If the team can gel well in the preseason practices under the guidance of the highly successful Chip Kelly, then there is a chance they could make it to the playoffs in the first year of his leadership. After a highly disappointing 2012 when their record was 4 – 12, an above average season is highly anticipated.
Michael Vick remains a quarterback within the Eagles organization, but he will have to prove himself during practices in order to be named the starter for the season. He is in his last year of his contract and younger, more resilient players were brought in who are going to challenge him for the position. Nick Foles and Matt Barkley are both gunning to get the starting slot and will give Vick a run for his money.
LeSean McCoy is anticipating that whoever leads the helm he will still get more than his share of chances to run the ball. Kelly is known to have a dominantly throwing game, but he will still focus on getting one of the best running backs the ball in order to find the end zone.
Some new players that signed to the Eagles include James Casey who came from the Houston Texans. He is a tight end and will probably start along with the rookie draft pick Zach Ertz. The offensive line remains basically the same and if they can remain injury free, they will provide some time for whoever the starting quarterback ends up being to find a target for the ball.
The Eagles came away with some great players from the draft which makes them have a lot of optimism for this season. Their first choice went to tackle Lane Johnson, from Oklahoma. The second round pick was a tight end out of Stanford, Zach Ertz. The third round choice was also an outstanding player from LSU, Bennie Logan out of LSU.
The coaching staff is virtually completely different from the end of the 2012 season. Head coach Andy Reid departed after a disastrous personal and professional year to be replaced by highly successful NCAA coach Chip Kelly, who left the University of Oregon. Bill Lazor is the new quarterback coach; Jeff Stoutland was named the new offensive line coach. Bill Davis was moved to the defensive coordinator spot. Many other assistants from both pro and college teams were brought in to come up with a new plan for leading the Eagles in to championship form again. The leadership team was brought in early in the season to set up new plays and work on a plan to get the team on a winning track
